If you’re not busy on Saturday 18 March 2017 and you live near Chelmsford, why not come to the Essex Authors’ Day at Chelmsford Library between 10am and 3pm. Essex-based authors and readers will come together for an exciting day of workshops, stalls and activities, so there will be plenty for you if you enjoy writing or reading, or both!
I will be there with fellow authors Colin Payn and David O’Neill from the Basildon Writers’ Group with copies of our books.
Colin, David and I will be taking part in Author Readings during the day. Colin will be speaking at 11.45, I will be speaking at 12.00 and David will be speaking at 2.45. We each have a slot of fifteen minutes.
At 2pm in the reading gallery, the Essex Belongs to Us Anthology will be launched. The publisher, Malcolm Burgess, invited Essex authors to submit short stories, poems, memoirs, history and even streams of consciousness and the result will be available for sale on Saturday 18 March. I submitted two stories and Malcolm informed me that I have been successful although as yet, I don’t know which of my stories has been accepted. Both of my short stories took place in the past; one tells the fictional story of a girl who worked in Pitsea Explosives Factory during World War One and is called To Be a Munitionette. The other is set in the Plotlands at Dunton just before World War Two and is called A Plotland Tale. Although both stories are fictional, I tried to make them historically accurate. I’m looking forward to seeing which story Malcolm has chosen.
There will be plenty going on at Chelmsford Library on 18 March, and it would be wonderful to see you there.
