Sugar and Spice and all Things Nice

You can’t have failed to notice the Icebucket Challenge which has been all over social media recently. Nor to have missed the unmade up selfies of a few months ago. It’s lovely that so much money is being raised for charity but I can’t help thinking a bucket of iced water over the head is quickly over – although perhaps not so easily forgotten!

So, carry on with the cold water and lack of makeup, if you wish and then think about my challenge, the Nicebucket Challenge.  I’m not going to target specific people, I’m going to nominate everyone, including myself. And it’s not to raise money but to make the world a better place, although anyone carrying out my challenge may well feel they’d like to give some money to good causes, and that’s fine.

So, are you up for a challenge?

Here goes: Be as nice as you can, to as many people as you can, for as long as you can.

That sounds quite easy but I bet it’s much harder than tipping water over your head. It may ultimately cost more – in terms of time and money. But the beauty is that  if it evereveryone will benefit.

If you’d like to take part and spread the word about the Nicebucket Challenge, be my guest.

My own charity effort is to raise money for St. Nicholas Church, Laindon with Dunton, Essex. It is a historic 12th century church with a wonderful wooden annexe on the end which was formerly used as the village school up until the late 1800s. When the school closed, another school – Laindon Park School, was opened not far away. I’m trying to raise money by selling my ebook ‘Daffodil and the Thin Place’, a YA story which takes place in the church and school and features James Hornsby, the last school master of the school before it closed. If you’d like to purchase the ebook ‘Daffodil and the Thin Place’, you can find it here on the Muse It Up Publishing website where there are also links to all major ebook sellers.

But, whatever you do today, please make it nice!
