The Old Girl has taken me to some strange places but a few days ago, she really surprised me. Have you ever seen such an ancient set of steps as those in the photo? Well, she climbed them and took me right up into the bell tower to photograph the damage that the woodpeckers have made to the wood. It’s a bit of a mess up there as you might imagine in a place where birds get in but the worst thing is that the water is damaging the ancient beams.

We climbed up several sets of steps until we were in the part where you can see the window. That’s actually on a floor above the bells. In the third photo, you can see the inside of the window on the right and on the left, three of the many holes that the woodpeckers have made. In fact, they’ve been so busy making holes you’d think they had a grudge against the bell tower.

Anyway, if you’d like to help to fix the bell tower and make it watertight, please buy the Old Girl’s ebook ‘Daffodil and the Thin Place’. All the proceeds from the book will go towards the renovation fund, If you’d like to buy the ebook, click here to go to the Muse It Up Publishing website or go to your favourite ebook retailer.
