‘Us’ and ‘Them’
‘Us’ and ‘Them’.
From earliest times, humans formed
communities which offered them security and prosperity.
For cave dwellers, team work
may have been the difference
between life and death.
So, the concept of ‘Us’ was born
but with it came the idea of ‘Them’.
‘Them’, the ones who are not ‘Us’.
Today, we still recognise ‘Us’ and ‘Them’.
How many wars have been waged
across the globe and throughout time,
between ‘Us’ and ‘Them’?
In a world where difference
is eyed with suspicion,
will we ever be able to welcome
all members of ‘Them’
into the group we call ‘Us’?
What do you think?
