I was looking through some old papers today and came across a cutting from a magazine, which showed highly unusual houses. From tree houses 80ft up in the forest of New Guinea to the Meditation House in Bhutan, a house impossibly perched in a cleft on the side of a sheer cliff face.

I wondered what was the most unusual house I’d ever seen and photographed and I think it must be this one in Almunecar, Spain. Although it looks like a boat and appears to be moored, it is actually nowhere near the water and is built on a normal road. And looks even stranger because it’s on a hill.

I’d have loved to have known a bit more about the house but I can’t find anything on the Internet about it.

What’s the most unusual home you’ve ever seen or photographed?

For a short while, Daffodil lived in an unusual home with the schoolmaster, his wife and the other scholars in the school. Although Daffodil is a fictitious character, schoolmasters, their families and school children really lived in the wooden annexe on the end of St. Nicholas Church, Laindon with Dunton, Essex. It is a strange construction on three floors, with an unusual staircase leading to the top and can be seen in the photo below, on the left of the bell tower.  Unfortunately, woodpeckers have made holes in the wood of the bell tower and a large amount of money is necessary to repair it. All money raised from sales of my ebook ‘Daffodil and the Thin Place’ will go towards repairs and upkeep.
