I very rarely take photographs of my dinner, or any other food for that matter, unless I’m in a fresh food market, but I couldn’t resist taking a photo of the dishes you can see on the left. Not so much dinner as a work of art.

We were in a dive resort near Manado in North Sulawesi and on the final evening the chef excelled himself, producing a memorable meal despite it merely consisting of chicken, vegetables, rice and fruit for dessert. It was so beautifully arranged, it was almost a crime to spoil the display but we did finally tuck in – and not a lot was left. I’d had no idea there were so many varieties of mango or banana as there were on display and each was quite distinct from the others.

There isn’t much food in my ebook ‘Daffodil and the Thin Place’. Mostly the meals in Puckle’s School would have been simple and in my ebook, the schoolmaster, his wife and the scholars enjoyed cabbage soup and bread. Not very appetising! If you’d like to find out what happened just before and during one particular meal you can find out by purchasing the ebook here on the Muse It Up Publishing website. All profits from the sale of the ebook ‘Daffodil and the Thin Place’ will go towards the renovation and upkeep of the ancient church of St. Nicholas, Laindon with Dunton, Essex where the story takes place. #MuseItUp #DaffodilAndTheThinPlace
