Happy 420th Birthday, Old Boy – #MuseItUp #DaffodilAndTheThinPlace

Hi, Reg here again. Well, today is the Old Boy’s birthday. And it’s a big one with a zero. I’m not at liberty to divulge his age but if he were a dog, he’d be 420 years old. So, you can see, he’s getting on a bit.

Nevertheless, for someone of such advanced years, he’s remarkably sprightly. He’s pretty fearless too and he’s given the Old Girl a few worrying moments. Like on one of his diving trips to the Red Sea, Egypt, when he was swimming about amongst Oceanic Whitetip sharks which Jacques Cousteau once described  as “the most dangerous of all sharks”. I don’t know if Jacques was right – I have trouble telling sheep from goats so please don’t ask me about sharks. However, a few weeks after the Old Boy was swimming about amongst them, there were several attacks on humans in Sharm el Sheikh by Oceanic Whitetips, so they’re not completely innocent. The victims were snorkelling or swimming on the top of the water and apparently, sharks think that anything splashing about on the surface is dinner but they tend to ignore divers who are much deeper. That’s fine except that at two points in a dive, divers will be on the surface – as they jump in and then again, when they get out. The Old Girl was standing on the top of the boat watching as the Old Boy jumped in and at the same time, she saw a white-tipped dorsal fin slice through the water towards him. Thankfully he lived to tell the tale and as you can see, he got a good photo! It didn’t do much for the Old Girl’s blood pressure though.

It seems that if it’s high, fast or you’re at risk of losing a body part, the Old Boy’s interested in it.

So, I’d like to wish him happy birthday and many happy returns. And the Old Girl would like to say she loves him to bits. Although I think she prefers him to be in one bit.

Happy Birthday Old Boy from the Old Girl, Young’un and me.

He’s told everyone that he doesn’t want any presents but I think it’s always good to mark a special day and I’d like to suggest we all celebrate the Old Boy’s birthday by buying a copy of the Old Girl’s ebook ‘Daffodil and the Thin Place’. You can get it here from the Muse It Up Publishing website or in fact from any major ebook supplier. #MuseItUp #DaffodilAndTheThinPlace
