Book Box in Basildonplatz, Heiligenhaus, Germany

Reg’s Dlog (Well, what else would you call a dog’s blog?)

I know I said I’d tell you about what Northy and I got up to last Tuesday but I just wanted to let you know about this great idea I saw in Heiligenhaus, Germany when I was there last weekend with the Old Ones.

It’s a Book Box.

I saw it in Basildonplatz (yes, really – it’s a square named after Basildon, Essex) and it’s available for everyone. Well, I say everyone, but in fact, I couldn’t reach the door knob to open the door and even if I could, I couldn’t reach the bottom shelf. But, if you’re a person, you can help yourself to a book, read it on one of the nearby benches and then put it back or even take it home. If you have any books you’ve read, you can put them in the box and leave them for someone else. It’s a mini library with no need for library tickets. What a great idea.

If only I could read.

There is of course one book that won’t be in the box of books and that’s because it’s only available as an ebook. It’s the Old Girl’s ebook, ‘Daffodil and the Thin Place’. And that’s a shame because it’s really good. If you haven’t read it yet, click here to go to the Muse It Up Publishing website or go to your preferred ebook retailer. Buy a copy. It will cost you less than £2.00. Why not buy two? It will only cost you… um… a bit more than £2.00. You never know, if enough ebooks are sold, it may be published on paper and then the next time you’re out in Heiligenhaus, you could leave a copy in the Book Box of Basildonplatz.
